7 February 2011: The European Parliament, the European Commission and the UN-Human Settlements Programe (UN-HABITAT), with the support of the Hungarian Presidency of the EU, hosted the high-level Consolidated Urban Dialogue Meeting with the EU Partners at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, on 26 January 2011.
20 January 2011: The Group on Earth Observation (GEO) has released the January issue of its newsletter, "GEO News," which includes an article on creating a bioenergy atlas of Africa.
The GEF Europe and CIS Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) will bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from GEF agencies. It will include participants from Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
February 2011: Monique Barbut, CEO of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has endorsed several GEF projects with a strong focus on energy efficiency. CEO endorsement is the final step in GEF project cycle approval.
24 January 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report (FCCC/ARR/2010/MCO) of the review of the annual inventory submission of Monaco.
27 January 2011: The European Commission has issued a Communication titled "Regional Policy Contributing to Sustainable Growth in Europe 2020," urging the use of EU regional policy funds to finance sustainable growth projects.
25 January 2011: The European Commission has suspended transactions, except for allocation and surrender of allowances, in all EU Emission Trading System (ETS) national registries from 19 January 2011 until at least 26 January 2011, due to recurring security breaches in national registries over the period December 2010-January 2011.
25 January 2011: The first comprehensive report on future fuels covering the whole transport sector in Europe has been released. The report was prepared by a European expert group, and concludes that alternative fuels have the potential to gradually replace fossil energy sources and make transport sustainable by 2050 in the EU.
