European Cars Meet Fuel Efficiency Targets, EEA Reports [viewed]

EEA30 April 2014: According to the European Environment Agency (EEA), new cars sold in the EU in 2013 were 4% more fuel efficient than cars sold in 2012 and 10% more efficient than those sold in 2010. The 2013 average fuel efficiency for new cars of 127g carbon dioxide per km put the EU ahead of the EEA's 2015 legal target of 130g carbon dioxide per km, well along the way to the 95g carbon dioxide per km mandated for 2021.

OECD's ENVIRONET, WP-STAT Evaluate Development Finance Reporting [viewed]

OECD21 March 2014: A meeting convened by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the Network on Environment and Development Co-operation (ENVIRONET) and the Working Party on Development Finance Statistics (WP-STAT) discussed trends in the reporting of development and climate finance flows, including the use of the Rio markers for reporting under the Rio Conventions.

Indian Ocean Countries Collaborate on Climate Data Rescue [viewed]

gfcs24 April 2014: The International Workshop on the Recovery and Digitization of Climate Heritage in the Indian Ocean Rim Countries and Islands convened in recognition of the need to accelerate the recovery of the region's historical climate records. At the workshop, governments established the INdian Ocean Data REscue Initiative (INDARE), adopted a declaration and agreed to finalize an INDARE implementation plan.

Event: Tehran Workshop on Harnessing Climate Change Financing for Forests in Central Asia [viewed]

The workshop, the first of three sub-regional workshops to be held as part of the Climate Change Financing for Forests Project under the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), will facilitate an exchange of views and experiences on climate change finance for forest management. Outcomes from the workshop will include suggestions on ways to enhance the links between climate change and forest finance. Hosted by the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), the workshop will bring together representatives from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
