Event: Better Air Quality 2012 [viewed]

Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2012 is organized by the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities, the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in partnership with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank. The theme of BAQ 2012 is “Growing Cities, Healthy Cities,” reflecting the need in Asia to create livable cities with blue skies, a low carbon footprint, green buildings and spaces, and transport systems that embrace public transport, walking and cycling.

September 2012: The Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has released the August edition of its News Update, inviting participation in its 20th anniversary celebrations, which will be held in 2013. The celebrations will describe CIFOR's journey from a small organization established in 1993, to its current state as a highly influential organization with over 200 partners.

Event: Singapore International Energy Week 2012 [viewed]

This annual event, organized by the Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, brings together policy makers, energy professionals and business leaders to discuss best practices and solutions for energy-related issues. During the week a range of roundtables, conferences and dialogues will be organized on several topics including: offshore renewable energy; electricity; solar energy; and smart grids. During a a two-day Asia Future Energy Forum specialists will discuss several renewable energy sources under the heading of "Powering Sustainability through Innovations." Speakers will include Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director, International Energy Agency (IEA) and Rutu Dave, Climate Change Specialist, the World Bank Institute.

GCF Inaugural Board Meeting Elects Co-Chairs, Agrees on Process for Selecting Host [viewed]

UNFCCC Releases LDCs' and Japan's Submissions on a Framework for Various Approaches [viewed]

23 August 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released an addendum to the submissions received on a framework for various approaches. The document contains the submissions of Gambia, for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), and Japan. These submissions are additional to the 14 contained in document FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/MISC.4 and Add.1 and 2.

REEEP Calls for Clean Energy Projects with Growth Potential [viewed]

23 August 2012: The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) has released a Call for Proposals for its ninth programme cycle, focusing specifically on projects with large potential for clean energy growth. As the maximum amount of funding per project is limited to €150,000, REEEP will give preference to projects that can provide proof of co-funding from other sources.

Cartagena Dialogue Discusses Expectations Ahead of Bangkok and Doha [viewed]

20 July 2012: The Cartagena Dialogue for Progressive Action (Cartagena Dialogue) met in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to discuss key questions ahead of the upcoming informal additional sessions of the Ad Hoc working groups (AWGs) to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 30 August to 5 September 2012, and the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to be held in Doha, Qatar, at the end of 2012.
