ADB, Australia to Support Drought Preparedness in the Greater Mekong Subregion [viewed]

ADB7 November 2012: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reported that, together with the Government of Australia, through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), it plans to provide loans and grants to the Governments of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) and Viet Nam. The finance will be used to fund infrastructure upgrades, community-based disaster risk management, and enhanced regional forecasting to improve flood and drought preparedness in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

UNGA Second Committee Considers Sustainable Urban Development, Strengthening UN-HABITAT [viewed]

1 November 2012: The UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Second Committee considered issues relevant to the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), including discussion of two reports, in a meeting on 1 November 2012, in New York, US. Joan Clos, Executive Director, UN-HABITAT, said the Third UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development (Habitat III) in 2016 should reinvigorate sustainable urban development commitments and produce a political outcome document.

UNFCCC Publishes CGE's Training Workshop Report for Asia and Pacific Region [viewed]

UNFCCC30 October 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report of the Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (CGE) on a hands-on training workshop for the Asia and Pacific region on vulnerability and adaptation assessment (FCCC/SBI/2012/32). The workshop was held in Vientiane, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, from 8-12 October 2012.

ASB, IISD Release Reports on REDD+ Safeguard Information Systems and Private Sector Engagement [viewed]
