Event: Tenth Meeting of the Carbon Fund (CF10) [viewed]

The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) will consider Emission Reductions Program Idea Notes (ER-PIN) from Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Peru, Republic of Congo and Viet Nam at the tenth meeting of the Carbon Fund. The meeting will also consider the Emission Reductions Program Document (ER-PD) template as well as the emission reductions buffer maintained by the FCPF.

UK Hosts Clean Energy Finance Summit [viewed]

Flag UK4 June 2014: The Clean Energy Finance Summit has held the inaugural meeting of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, a global public-private platform created to leverage private sector investments in low-carbon, climate-resilient infrastructure in developing countries. The meeting represented an opportunity for the Global Innovation Lab to consider proposals for raising private finance in consultation with experts from pension funds, investment banks and development finance institutions in developed and developing countries.

Pacific DRM Platform Calls for Strengthened Action to Prevent Risk Accumulation, Build Resilience [viewed]

UNISDR4 June 2014: Delegates called for a Post-2015 Framework for DRR to link, where appropriate, with the expected 2015 climate change agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The call came at the conclusion of the Sixth Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management (DRM). The statement, titled 'Way Forward: Climate and Disaster Resilient Development in the Pacific,' calls for a "whole-of-society" approach to prevent and reduce disaster risk.

Montreal Protocol Multilateral Fund Approves over US$2.7 Million for National Projects [viewed]

MultilateralfundMay 2014: The Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol has approved financing for institutional strengthening projects in 18 countries. It also approved hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) Phase out Management Plan (HPMP) projects in 11 countries. The projects were approved during the 72nd meeting of the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund (ExCom).

CTCN Receives Requests for Support from Six Countries [viewed]

ctcn2 June 2014: The UN's Climate Technology Center and Network (CTCN) has received eight requests for technology assistance from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Chile, Colombia, Honduras and Pakistan. Countries requested CTCN support for climate actions related to: renewable energy policies; public transportation; biodiversity monitoring; and coastal protection through saving mangrove forests.

FAO, Partners Develop Methodology for Herders and Grazers to Access Carbon Finance [viewed]

FAO30 May 2014: In recognition of the potential for grassland restoration to both mitigate climate change and improve profitability of livestock farmers, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), in collaboration with Chinese partners, has developed a tool that can measure carbon sequestration resulting from sustainable grassland management. The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) has approved the tool, which will allow the carbon credits derived from improved grassland management to be sold in voluntary carbon markets.
