UN-REDD Newsletter Welcomes New Donors and a New Secretariat Head [viewed]
24 January 2013: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) published the latest version of its newsletter highlighting new donor commitments, events at the eighteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP 18), in-country actions and work on safeguards and multiple benefits.
10 January 2012: The International Annual UN-Water Zaragoza Conference 2012/2013 reiterated that the challenges of climate change, poverty eradication, sustainable development and population growth require cooperation.
24 January 2013: Thailand has received two technical assistance grants, funded by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) and administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to support water and flood management, and to assist with accounting and financial management reform in the railway sector.

15 January 2013: The UN Development Programme's (UNDP) Asia-Pacific office has published a discussion paper, titled “National Climate Funds: Learning from the Experience of Asia-Pacific countries.” The paper was released together with seven case studies examining national climate funds (NCFs), mechanisms to direct finance towards climate change projects and programmes in Bhutan, Laos People's Democratic Republic, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Micronesia and Tuvalu. 
15 January 2013: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved funding of a project that aims to enhance government capacity to mitigate climate-related hazards in Nepal by improving the accuracy and timeliness of weather and flood forecasts and warnings for climate-vulnerable communities.
