UNDP Announces Winners of Asia Pacific Cartoon Contest on Climate Change [viewed]

UNDP18 April 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Asia-Pacific Regional Centre and the Government of France co-organized a cartoon contest to support advocacy that brings people to the centre of climate change and human development debates. Event: 68th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific [viewed]

The 68th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will focus on a four-track strategy to promote shared, sustainable and inclusive growth in the region by promoting market integration, physical connectivity, financial cooperation and joint action to address common vulnerabilities arising from shrinking resources and climate threats. The session will comprise both a senior officials segment (17-19 May), and a ministerial segment (21-23 May). UN-REDD Board Approves Funding for the Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka [viewed]

16 May 2012: The UN-REDD Programme has released the report from its eighth Policy Board meeting, during which it approved funding to support the national programmes on REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks) of the Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka. Both countries will each receive US$4 million.
