8 April 2011: The International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) have released a study that attributes deforestation in West Africa to low fertilizer use in farming cocoa, cassava and oil palm.
April 2011: The UN General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted a resolution (A/65/L.69) at its 65th session under agenda item 62 (a) on the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), regarding progress in implementation and international support.
The World Bank Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) is developing a regional Climate Change Flagship Report, "Adaptation to a Changing Climate in the Arab Countries." A writing meeting will be held to prepare the First Draft of the Report ready for formal public review. Preferences will be given to early career professionals and to engaging new contributors from the full geographic range of the Arab region.

March 2011: The March 2011 edition of the World Bank Institute Climate Change (WBICC) Practice e-Bulletin presents news of the launch of a climate practitioner network in Latin America, and training of youth in Kenya to become agents of change and to implement youth-focused climate change-development activities within their communities.
8 April 2011: The World Bank Institute and Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) have published a training manual that shares hands-on experience from field programmes and presents the essential practical and theoretical steps, methods and tools to estimate the opportunity costs of reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+).
8 April 2011: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released the second issue of the newsletter for its EX-ACT Tool, which provides ex-ante estimates of the impact of agriculture and forestry development projects on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and carbon sequestration.
8 April 2011: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility has published the resolutions and decisions adopted at the eighth meeting of the Participants Committee (PC), which took place from 23-25 March 2011, in Da Lat, Viet Nam.
7 April 2011: The second Clean Energy Ministerial took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 6-7 April 2011, to discuss progress on initiatives developed as a result of the first Clean Energy Ministerial, which met in July 2010, in Washington DC, US.
6 April 2011: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) and the African Union (AU) convened the inaugural meeting of the reconstituted African Working Group on Disaster Risk Reduction (AWGDRR). The Group met from 29-31 March 2011, in Nairobi, Kenya.
