Host Country Agreement Signed for Durban Climate Change Conference [viewed]

3 October 2011: Christiana Figueres, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, have signed the Host Country Agreement for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC and the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 7), which will take place in Durban, South Africa, from 28 November to 9 December 2011.

West African Mayors Call for Increased Climate Action at the Local Level [viewed]

23 September 2011: The African Mayoral Conference on Climate Change-West African pre-COP 17 Congress concluded with the signing by over 80 mayors and chairmen of local governments of the African Mayors Climate Declaration. The event also served as a preparatory platform for West Africa's local authorities and their partners to prepare for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC).
