New Plant Breeding Academy to Improve Food Security in Africa [viewed]

World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)10 December 2013: To improve Africa's resilience to climate change, pests and disease, the African Plant Breeding Academy (APBA) has announced that it will train scientists and technicians to breed plants and trees that have previously received little scientific research attention because of their low market value. The APBA was established to boost the profile and production of "orphan crops," which are neglected but nutritious crops.

Event: Eleventh UN-REDD Programme Policy Board Meeting [viewed]

The 11th meeting of the Policy Board to the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation (UN-REDD) will consider the semi-annual progress update including country specific reports on implementation of the UN-REDD national programmes, and the outcomes of the Support to National REDD+ Action: Global Programme Framework 2011-2015 (SNA).
