12 December 2010: The second meeting of the Japan-Arab Economic Forum was held in Tunis, Tunisia, on 11 December 2010, on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Japan and the League of Arab States.
December 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Commission have released a newsletter on the Multilateral Environment Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP MEAs) Project. The newsletter contains information on upcoming activities in the African, Caribbean and Pacific project hubs.
25 November 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Africa Adaptation Programme, with funding from the Government of Japan, is assisting 20 African countries in implementing integrated and comprehensive adaptation and resilience plans over a three year period.
This "writeshop" is being organized to support developing country researchers in their efforts to produce publications on disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change. The workshop will address topics that are relevant to climate change adaptation and the 2011 Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction. Papers selected for the writeshop should focus on the themes of enabling environments, governance and ecosystem services. Applications are due on 31 December 2010.
8 December 2010: The Government of Denmark, the World Bank and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) to support island countries in scaling up their renewable energy efforts and shift to greater energy efficiency.
7 December 2010: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction Secretariat (UN/ISDR) has entered into an agreement with the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) to strengthen collaboration on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation.

29 November 2010: The Government of South Africa has announced that the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 17) and the seventh Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 7) will take place in 2011 in Durban, South Africa.
