Event: ICAO Aviation and Sustainable Alternative Fuels Workshop [viewed]

This International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) workshop will provide a forum for information exchange on the state of worldwide activities on sustainable alternative fuels, especially biofuels, for aviation. In addition, the workshop aims to enhance dialogue among member States, financial institutions, fuel producers and operators over project financing for sustainable alternative aviation fuels. Further discussions will focus on, among others: harmonizing life cycle analysis methodologies; sustainability criteria; legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure availability of supply of sustainable alternative fuels for aviation; and the role of sustainable alternative fuels in member States' emissions reduction actions.

CDM Project in Egypt Replaces Polluting Taxi Fleet [viewed]

European Commission Legislation Incentivizes Eco-innovation for Cars [viewed]

25 July 2011: The European Commission adopted legislation providing incentives for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from cars through eco-innovation. The Regulation enables motor manufacturers to receive carbon emission credits if they fit new cars with approved "eco-innovations" reducing emissions.

Ban on Heavy Fuel Oil in Antarctic Enters into Force [viewed]

29 July 2011: The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has reported that a ban on heavy fuel oil from the Antarctic will enter into force on 1 August 2011, and that a new North American Emission Control Area (ECA) will be created. The ban and ECA aim to reduce pollution in the Antarctic region.

Event: Integrated Climate Impact Assessment Tool for Urban Policy Makers: Expert Consultations [viewed]

This invitation-only event will gather policy makers and experts from Asia and around the world to review the features of available tools for urban policy makers to assess the complex nature of impact and risk assessment for prioritizing projects based on costs and benefits.
