29 November 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released its appraisal of the environmental and social impacts of the 2010 World Exposition, in a paper titled “Final Environmental Review of the 2010 World Exposition.” Expo 2010 took place in Shanghai, China, from May-October 2010, under the theme, "Better City, Better Life."
24 November 2011: The Fourth Energy and Environment Ministerial of the Central American Integration System (SICA) examined several matters for joint action on the energy-environment interface, including elaborating a new regional sustainable energy policy, increasing regional programmes on renewable energy and the sustainable use of firewood, and reducing the sulfur content of diesel fuel.
23 November 2011: The 2011 Review of Maritime Transport, published by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) highlights challenges of adapting maritime transport to the impacts of climate change, primarily sea-level rise, and provides an update on the development of measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from maritime transport.
16 November 2011: The Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) has pledged to promote green growth and to increase public-private partnerships (PPPs) to improve disaster resilience in its member countries. The pledges were made at the APEC Ministerial Meetings held from 10-11 November 2011, in Honolulu, US.
The annual Global Energy Basel conference brings together global leaders in industry, government and business to create a dialogue on the future of low-carbon sustainable infrastructure and help design the investment landscape of three innovative, high-growth markets that account for over 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions: building and urban development, including concepts, planning, residential and commercial development and recreation, encompassing new developments and retrofits; transportation, both mobility and city logistics; and sustainable energy supply, including renewable energy, demand side management and energy efficiency.
15 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/MISC.9) from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on information relevant to emissions from fuel used for international aviation and maritime transport.
14 November 2011: The International Maritime Organization (IMO) commissioned study on the impact of mandatory energy efficiency measures for international shipping reports that implementation of the measures will enable significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions from ships, specifically reductions of carbon dioxide.
10 November 2011: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a US$100 million loan to support the Low Carbon and Resilient Development Program in Indonesia, which the Government has pledged to use towards cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 26 percent over business-as-usual by 2020.
10 November 2011: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has published its annual report on pollutant emissions from transport, highlighting a fall in 2009 that may, however, only be a temporary effect of the economic downturn.
8 November 2011: UN Greening the Blue has announced that the UN office in Viet Nam hosted a green picnic, for staff, family and friends, to mark UN Day on 24 October 2011. The event aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues through green booths and quizzes.
