3 May 2012: The Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI) has launched a three-year campaign as part of an effort to improve vehicle fuel economy around the world. The GFEI's 2012-15 objectives include include, inter alia: supporting countries on fuel economy policies, raising awareness on fuel economies, and using data to assist countries policies to address fuel economy.
May 2012: The International Transport Forum (ITF) has released its 2012 Transport Outlook on Seamless Transport for Greener Growth.
7 May 2012: The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) has published the Chair's Summary of the recent third CEM in London, UK, which took place from 25-26 April, 2012. The Summary reviews the events and outcomes of the meeting and also notes key interventions made by participating Ministers and observers in sessions on clean energy, energy efficiency, energy for all, and cross-cutting topics.
4 May 2012: The International Transport Forum (ITF) Annual Summit, held from 2-4 May 2012, in Leipzig, Germany, on “Seamless Transport: Making Connections,” concluded with a common declaration signed by Ministers. The declaration emphasizes the need for seamless transport for mobility and sustainable economic growth, as well as the importance of sustainable transport systems for economic prosperity, environmental protection, safety and security of society.
5 May 2012: An International Energy Agency (IEA) supported publication, titled "EV City Casebook: A Look at the Global Electric Vehicle Movement," addresses best practices for electric vehicle usage.
4 May 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/SBSTA/2012/MISC.7) from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on information relevant to emissions from fuel used for international aviation and maritime transport.
3 May 2012: The European Commission Vice-President responsible for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, addressed the Smart Energy and Sustainable Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Conference, calling for Europe to use ICT to address the “challenge of managing energy resources.”
3 May 2012: The World Bank's Fiscal Year 2011 Sustainability Review highlights the Bank's efforts to reduce water and paper use and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions attributable to Bank activities.
3 May 2012: The World Bank published a book titled, “Sustainable Low-Carbon City Development in China,” offering practical lessons to policymakers in China to organize and coordinate sustainable low-carbon urban development.
2 May 2012: The European Commission has published a Staff Working Document, prepared by the European Environment Agency (EEA) in consultation with the EU Climate Change Committee, containing guidelines for a technical review of EU Member States' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories. The review will be overseen by a review secretariat within the EEA and a technical expert review team.
