UNEP, OECD Launch Climate Change and Tourism Policy Report [viewed]

10 October 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have a released a report titled “Climate Change and Tourism Policy in OECD Countries,” which warns that unless resource-efficient policies are developed, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the tourism industry will double over the next 25 years.

8 September 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Austrian Federal Environment Agency convened the project completion meeting for the Adaptation to Climate Change by Spatial Planning in the Alpine Space Project (CLISP). The meeting, attended by 100 participants from the Alpine States, convened in Vienna, Austria, on 8 September 2011.

Event: CLIMALPTOUR-Climate Change and its Impact on Tourism in the Alpine Space [viewed]

This conference will provide an overview of the CLIMALPTOUR Project, which aims to make Alpine centers an interesting destination in all seasons and to increase their potential even if snow is lacking. UNDP1 September 2011: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released the third National Human Development Report for Bhutan, titled “Sustaining Progress: Rising to the Climate Challenge.” The report notes that climate change is threatening the economic and human development gains that contribute to Bhutan's Gross National Happiness (GNH) and that building resilience is crucial to safeguard the livelihoods of about a quarter of the Bhutanese population who depend on subsistence farming and natural resources.
