Event: Take Lead [viewed]

The Take Lead conference seeks to discover new oppor­tunities for cities and businesses and share knowledge to confront the emerging crisis through green growth. It will include workshops on: Smart Grid –Smart Growth; Sustainable Living in Buildings; Electric Vehicles; Communicating Green Growth; Bio Business is Big Business; Water –the Lasting Drop; a Sea of Wind- off shore wind; and Solutions for Sustainable Cities. The results of the discussions will feed into the report “State of the Green Economy” that will be submitted to the EU, C40, Rio+20 and UN Global Compact.

CCCCC Update Highlights SIDS' Calls for Action on Climate [viewed]

CCCCC4 October 2011: The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) has published the September 2011 edition of its Climate Change News Update. The edition contains a summary of major international and regional climate change-related news, highlighting calls by representatives of small island States for urgent action to mitigate climate change and to support the adaptation efforts of the poorest countries.

EU-Brazil Summit Tackles Climate Change, Energy and Social Dimension of Rio+20 [viewed]

Event: Energy for All: Financing Access for the Poor [viewed]

The Oslo Energy for All 2011 high-level conference is co-organized by Norway and the International Energy Agency (IEA), and aims to explore possible ways of financing access to energy for the 1.4 billion people without access to electricity and 2.5 billion people who still use traditional biomass for cooking. Five countries from the South - Brazil, Ethiopia, India, Liberia and South Africa – have been invited to be organizing partners. High-level participants will include Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon Magnus, Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Director-General Kandeh Yumkella. Registration is by invitation only.
