Event: Caring for Climate Working Group on Climate Change and Development Webinar [viewed]

Caring for Climate (C4C), in cooperation with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and WWF, is creating a business working group aimed at enhancing the understanding of ways in which businesses can find strategic solutions throughout their operations and value chains to address the impacts of climate change on development. C4C is a voluntary and complementary action platform for UN Global Compact participants who seek to demonstrate leadership on the issue of climate change. The event is open to C4C signatories only.

Event: Future of Cities - ICLEI's 20th Anniversary Congress [viewed]

This Congress is organized by ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability. Partners include the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR). The four congress themes are: eco-efficiency (more with less); resilience (stability through flexibility); Green Economy (prosperity through change); and happiness (well-being as wealth).

Event: Fifth ITU Symposium on ICTs and the Environment and Climate Change [viewed]

The International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) fifth Symposium on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the Environment and Climate Change will be hosted and co-organized by Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs. It will focus on the issue of ICTs, the environment and climate change in Africa, as well as the needs of developing countries. Topics to be discussed include adaptation to climate change, e-waste, cost-effective ICT technologies, methodology of environmental impact assessment of ICT and financing of climate change solutions. The main purpose is to raise awareness of the importance and opportunities of using ICTs to monitor climate change, and to mitigate and address its effects. The symposium will issue the “Cairo Road Map,” a set of recommendations for action in relation to ICTs, the Environment and Climate Change.

OECD Publishes Review of Republic of Korea's Green Growth Strategy [viewed]

July 2010: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released a working paper titled “Korea's Green Growth Strategy: Mitigating Climate Change and Developing New Growth Engines,” which assesses the Republic of Korea's strategies to reduce its carbon emissions by 30% by 2020.
