Event: Third Africa Carbon Forum [viewed]

The Africa Carbon Forum is a trade fair and knowledge sharing platform for carbon investments in Africa. The third Africa Carbon Forum is being organized by the UNFCCC, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UNEP Risoe Centre, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB). It is intended to bring together representatives from Designated National Authorities (DNA), national focal points, representatives from several UN agencies, governments and the private sector, and will include matchmaking and deal facilitation sessions that will allow potential CDM project developers to showcase their projects to interested parties, including investors and carbon buyers.

ITU and GeSI Highlight Role of ICTs in Addressing Climate Change [viewed]

6 December 2010:  The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) have published a report titled “Using ICTs to Tackle Climate Change,” which illustrates the importance of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and in helping countries to adapt to climate change.

OECD/IEA Offer Insights on Low-Emission Development Strategies [viewed]

November 2010: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have released a joint secretariat information paper titled “Low-Emission Development Strategies (LEDS): Technical, Institutional and Policy Lessons.” The paper was developed in response to a request from the Climate Change Expert Group on the UNFCCC.

Event: OECD Green Growth Strategy Workshop [viewed]

This invitation-only workshop will bring together policymakers and experts across OECD and partner countries, as well as a range of stakeholders from international organizations, business, and civil society to review the Synthesis Report for an OECD Green Growth Strategy. The Green Growth Strategy seeks to provide tools for a shift towards a more sustainable development path, while identifying economic opportunities and benefits of going in that direction. The Synthesis Report will be presented to the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in May 2011. Among other issues the workshop will address economic instruments, indicators for green growth, food and agriculture, jobs and skills, innovation, and development.
