Event: Fourth Global Farmers' Forum [viewed]

The Farmers' Forum is a bottom-up process of consultation and dialogue between small farmer, rural producers' organizations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and governments focusing on rural development and poverty reduction. The Forum meets every two years in conjunction with the Governing Council of IFAD. This year's Forum has a particular focus on young farmers and representatives of rural youth movements. This year's themes include sustainable agriculture, sustainable fisheries, institutional development and financial sustainability of farmers' organizations, and engagement with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Event: Stockholm+40: Partnership Forum for Sustainable Development [viewed]

The Stockholm+40 Partnership Form for Sustainable Development will be held in Stockholm from 23-25 April 2012, in commemoration of the UN Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm in 1972. Stockholm+40 aims to foster innovative ideas and creative processes to create a platform for dialogue on sustainable innovations, sustainable production and sustainable lifestyles. Stockholm+40 will include the first meeting of the the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to reduce Short-lived Climate Pollutants from 23-24 April, with both Ministerial and Working Group sessions. In addition, a major scientific seminar on Short-Lived Climate Pollutants will be held during these days. The plans for Stockholm+40 focusing on the Short-Lived Climate Pollutants events will be presented.

ESCAP, UNEP and ADB Release Asia-Pacific Green Growth Report [viewed]

16 February 2012: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have released a report asserting that the challenges of resource constraints in the Asia-Pacific region are more serious than anywhere else, and proposing strategies for changing economic incentives to promote a green economy. The report was prepared as part of preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Businesses Gather for Summit on Sustainable Growth [viewed]

14 February 2012: KPMG International, in cooperation with the UN Global Compact, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), hosted a Summit on the Business Perspective for Sustainable Growth, at which UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for business leaders' support in achieving “critical mass” for corporate sustainability.

PACC Completes Training Programme in Cost Benefit Analysis [viewed]

6 February 2012: The Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) project, under the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), has completed its series of Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) workshops, with a third and final workshop held in Apia, Samoa, from 6-9 February 2012. The final workshop focused on the coastal sector.
