IDB Launches Carbon Finance Portal for Latin America [viewed]

2 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with support from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank, has launched a web portal called "Finanzas Carbono," which is designed to provide a platform for dissemination of information on carbon markets to the Spanish-speaking world.

ICRAF Releases Reports on REDD+ and Stakeholder Engagement [viewed]

8 June 2011: The REDD ALERT Project at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has released three papers that explore issues related to stakeholder perceptions of REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation  in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks) and economic gains.

Event: UNECE Public-Private Roundtable on Green Economy: Carbon Mechanisms and Innovative Financing for Green Infrastructure [viewed]

CDM Executive Board Launches Calls for Public Inputs [viewed]

3 June: At its 61st meeting, held from 30 May - 3 June 2011 in Bonn, Germany, the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) decided to launch four calls for public input on: identification of common issues in the implementation of registered afforestation/reforestation (A/R) CDM project activities; key issues identified in relation to the development of a solar cooker methodology; draft small-scale methodology for water saving devices; and how to include co-benefits in the documentation of CDM project activities, and the role of the different actors and stakeholders in this process.

5 June 2011: Millions of people celebrated World Environment Day (WED) around the theme, "Forests: Nature at Your Service," which highlights the ecosystem services provided by the world's forests. People across the world took part in WED activities, from litter clean-ups around Mount Everest to mini-marathons in India, the host country for 2011.
