UNWTO Launches Energy Efficiency Project [viewed]

13 June 2011: The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has announced the launch of a project with the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism titled “Sustainable Tourism through Energy Efficiency with Adaptation and Mitigation Measures in Pangandaran (STREAM).” The project will implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures related to energy efficiency in Pangandaran, Java, Indonesia.

MDGs Follow-up Meeting Calls for Equity-Based Approaches [viewed]

3 June 2011: The Government of Japan hosted a meeting on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Follow-up, to build upon the outcome of the UN high-level plenary meeting on the MDGs held in September 2010, and propose effective approaches to accelerate MDG progress. The meeting also discussed cross-cutting issues critical for the acceleration of MDGs, including climate change, food security and human security.

Food Security Experts Invite Input on Food Security and Climate Change Study [viewed]

13 June 2011: The High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has been requested to conduct a study on climate change to inform the policy decisions of CFS members, and is inviting input on the proposed scope of the study.

9 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Nature Conservancy and the FEMSA Foundation have launched a US$27 million dollar initiative to create water funds, private-public partnerships to protect critical watersheds in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and other countries.
