Event: Post-2015 Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Online Dialogues [viewed]

As part of the consultations on a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction (DRR), the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) is convening an online dialogue. UNISDR is gathering views on the future of the post-2015 framework for DRR and the results of the online dialogues will provide the substance for a post-2015 framework for DRR, expected to be agreed at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction scheduled to convene in 2015. The online dialogue will extend from 27 August to 30 November 2012.

Event: Climate Investment Funds Associated Meetings [viewed]

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are co-hosting the CIF 2012 Partnership Forum, on 6-7 November 2012, as well as associated meetings. The Forum will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to deepening global understanding of the linkages between climate change and development as they have been addressed within the context of the CIF. The Forum will be preceded by Pilot Country meetings for all CIF programs (the Clean Technology Fund, the Forest Investment Program, the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience, and the Program for Scaling-Up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries), from 30 October-1 November, and a Private Sector Forum, on 5 November.

Event: Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Workshop [viewed]

This workshop is organized by the Asian Institute of Technology. It aims at show-casting best TNA practices, getting feedback from participating countries on conducting and reporting TNAs and TAPs, enhancing capacity of national TNA coordinators in project proposal development, and facilitating interaction between country representatives and the funding community.

UNESCO MAB Launches Survey on Carbon in Biosphere Reserves [viewed]

August 2012: The Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has partnered with Terra Global Capital to take stock of opportunities to assist biosphere reserves with access to financial resources, through the development and marketing of projects for REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and the role of conservation, sustainable use of forests and enhancement of carbon stock).

UNEP Clean Air Coalition Announces Global Outreach Competition [viewed]

3 August 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) launched a contest to improve outreach on SLCPs. The competition is open to young people between 12-25 years of age.

World Bank Outlines DRR Plans in Viet Nam [viewed]
