Roadmap for the Global Framework for Climate Services Adopted [viewed]

gfcs10 July 2013: The first session of the Intergovernmental Board on Climate Services, organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), agreed on an operational roadmap for the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), a country-driven initiative to provide accurate and accessible climate services to users globally, with an initial focus on the agriculture, water, health and disaster management communities.

UNFCCC9 July 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the 2012 report on the Momentum for Change Initiative. The report features nine experiences that address climate change while improving livelihoods and living conditions in developing countries' urban areas.

Event: Ninth CDM Roundtable [viewed]

The ninth CDM Roundtable, which will convene in Bonn, Germany, on 23 August 2013, will seek to provide an opportunity to share best practices, enhance understanding and provide a platform for exchange of ideas on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) with stakeholders, in order to identify and improve on existing standards, procedures and guidelines.

International Danube River Commission Releases Guiding Principles on Sustainable Hydropower Development [viewed]

icpdr3 July 2013: The International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) has released 'Guiding Principles on Sustainable Hydropower Development in the Danube Basin,' which were elaborated with lead support from Austria, Romania and Slovenia with the contribution of many experts in different fields from all Danube basin countries and the European Commission.

Event: Global Landscapes Forum [viewed]

This Forum will convene on the margins of the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) by the Collaborative Programme on Forests (CPF) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). The Forum will focus on four main themes: investing in sustainable landscapes and livelihoods; landscape policy and governance; synergies between adapting to, and mitigating climate change in landscapes; and landscapes for food security and nutrition. The Global Landscapes Forum will combine into one event two annual conferences on the role of forests and agriculture in mitigating and adapting to climate change: Forest Day and Agricultural and Rural Development Day.

UNFCCC28 June 2013: The sixth meeting of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC 6) of the UNFCCC was broadcast live via the Internet over the UNFCCC Technology Information Clearinghouse (TT:CLEAR) website, allowing for interaction with off-site stakeholders who participated via social media during a thematic dialogue on research, development and demonstration (RD&D) of environmentally sound technologies ESTs).

This meeting aims to promote exercises on national capacity development (NCSA), results-based management, monitoring and evaluation, as well as synergies in project design related to the biodiversity, climate, chemicals and desertification conventions. Participants will also hear updates on the GEF2020 Strategy and on the GEF-6 replenishment process. The targeted audience is GEF focal points, focal points from the main conventions, representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF agencies.

OECD Publication Highlights Household Environmental Attitudes [viewed]
