Indonesia Releases Score on Forest Governance [viewed]

unredd fao undp25 June 2013: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) has launched the English version of the report of the Participatory Governance Assessment (PGA) in Indonesia. The document, titled '2012 Indonesia Forest, Land and REDD+ Governance Index,' is the first of four PGA reports expected from REDD+ partner countries that also include Ecuador, Nigeria and Viet Nam.

UN Committee Discusses Space-based Data for Sustainable Development [viewed]

Logo Unoosa 10021 June 2013: The UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) held its 56th session from 12-21 June 2013, at the UN Office in Vienna, Austria. According to the UN Information Service Vienna (UNIS Vienna), the session included a new agenda item on "Space and sustainable development," under which the Committee discussed contributions of space-technology-based data for sustainable development policy-making.

Ozone Secretariat Releases Paper that Proposes Including Ozone in SDGs [viewed]

25 Montreal Protocol21 June 2013: The Ozone Secretariat has released an information document, titled 'Embedding ozone protection in the sustainable development agenda,' that reviews historical and current sustainable development processes, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), introduces initiatives under way to articulate a new development agenda, including on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and discusses the role of ozone in future SDGs.

Renewables the Fastest-growing Power Generation Sector, IEA Reports [viewed]

IEA26 June 2013: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released its second annual 'Medium-Term Renewable Energy Market Report 2013' (MTRMR), which finds that growth of renewables in the electricity sector is on track to meet the IEA's low-carbon energy scenarios through 2018. The report cautions, however, that policy uncertainty is the main risk facing continued growth in the sector.

Event: Africa Climate Conference 2013 [viewed]

WMO Report Concludes 2001-2010 Warmest Decade on Record [viewed]
