UNEP-WCMC Launches Carbon and Co-benefits Website [viewed]

14 May 2010: The UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Center (UNEP-WCMC), with support from the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), has launched a new website highlighting the potential for actions on maintaining natural carbon stocks to generate co-benefits, i.e. that are additional to climate change mitigation effects.

The committee's first meeting was held on 14 May 2010, at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

UNEP, World Bank Produce Guidebook on Forest Carbon Projects [viewed]

May 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Bank's Carbon Finance Unit and others have published a guidebook titled "Bringing Forest Carbon Projects to the Market." The objective of the publication is to guide project developers and financial investors on developing and implementing profitable forestry projects in the carbon markets.

10 May 2010: The third edition of Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO-3), a major assessment of the current state of biodiversity and the implications of its continued loss for human well-being, has been launched. The report notes that the linked challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change must be addressed with equal priority and in close coordination, if the most severe impacts of each are to be avoided.

Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels Releases Sustainability Standards [viewed]

7 May 2010: The Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) has released its complete set of biofuels sustainability standards. The numerous standards compiled in this database range from a technical draft for EU market access to standards approved for pilot testing on: chains of custody; certification and accreditation bodies; and application of rules to specific conditions.
