April 2013: The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has released the “Synthesis Report on Consultations on the Post-2015 Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction (HFA2).” The report details the results of the year-long consultative process on HFA2 launched in March 2012, which included targeted global, regional, national and local level consultations.
22 April 2013: The Co-Chairs of the Group of Friends on Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) – Denmark, Norway and Pakistan – hosted a high-level event to update UN Member States on SE4ALL and others and gather support for sustainable energy. The event took place on 22 April 2013, in New York, US, in follow-up to the first meeting of the SE4ALL Advisory Board, on 19 April, in Washington, DC.
22 April 2013: In commemoration of International Mother Earth Day, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) held an interactive dialogue on Harmony with Nature, called for in UNGA resolution 67/214. The dialogue, held at UN Headquarters in New York, US, on 22 April 2013, featured remarks from UN officials and Member State representatives, and a panel discussion and interactive exchange between participants and delegates.
19 April 2013: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim have jointly announced the names of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) Advisory Board, whose members will provide strategic guidance and serve as global ambassadors for the initiative. Ban and Kim are co-chairing the Board, marking what the Secretary-General called "a new era in UN-World Bank relations."
April 2013: The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry (CRP-FTA) has released its 2012 CRP Performance Monitoring Report.
16 April 2013: On the sidelines of the tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10), the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) presented its program on sustainable forest management (SFM), highlighting the multiple benefits of forests for a resilient global environment.
15 April 2013: Approximately 60 researchers and officials from the five Central Asian States and Afghanistan, as well as representatives from international organizations and the donor community, gathered at a UN-backed seminar to discuss the impact of glacier melting on the water resources of Central Asia and review practical steps in adaptation strategies at national and regional levels.
5 April 2013: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released its 2012 Annual Report on the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting its recent work supporting countries to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), advance the post-2015 development agenda, and address climate change and sustainable energy.
16 April 2013: At a two-day conference in Dublin, Ireland, global leaders discussed critical challenges related to addressing hunger, nutrition and climate justice. Panel discussions focused on: risks, rights, knowledge and empowerment in the hunger, nutrition and climate justice dialogue; a vision for the world in 2050; local knowledge and local solutions; the post-2015 development agenda; effective policy responses; and commitments to lead.
April 2013: The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) has released publications addressing issues central to the green economy and the development of post-2015 development goals, gender equity, land rights and agriculture in Southern Africa, Madagascar, Guatemala, Brazil, and Caribbean small island developing States (SIDS).
