Financing for Development Dialogue Discusses Monterrey Consensus and Doha Declaration [viewed]

24 March 2010: The Fourth UN High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development, which convened in New York, US, on 23-24 March 2010, focused on “The Monterrey Consensus and Doha Declaration on Financing for Development: Status of Implementation and Tasks Ahead.” The High-level Dialogue was organized in the lead up to the forthcoming high level review on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), scheduled to take place in September this year at the same venue.

World Agroforestry Centre and Viet Nam to Collaborate on Climate Research [viewed]

19 March 2010: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) highlighted its plans to invest significantly in Viet Nam during a visit to ICRAF headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, by Vietnamese representatives. The meeting focused on how the Centre and Viet Nam's Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation could collaborate, in particular on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD).

UNECE Publishes Study on Financing Mitigation [viewed]

OECD Publishes Report on Microfinance for Adaptation [viewed]

12 February 2010: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a working paper on "Assessing the Role of Microfinance in Fostering Adaptation to Climate Change," which focuses on delivery mechanisms to channel adaptation resources towards the poor, who are also often the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

EU-ACP Agreement Revised [viewed]

19 March 2010: The European Commission and the 79 States of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) group have concluded the second revision of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement, which sets the framework for their cooperation. The revision aims to adapt the Agreement to today's challenges, such as climate change, food security, regional integration, State fragility and aid effectiveness.

Event: World Peoples Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth [viewed]

The objectives of this Conference are to: analyze the structural and systemic causes that drive climate change and propose measures to ensure the well-being of all humanity in harmony with nature; discuss and agree on the project of a Universal Declaration of Mother Earth Rights; agree on proposals for new commitments to the Kyoto Protocol and projects for a COP Decision under the UNFCCC to address climate debt, climate change migrants-refugees, emission reductions, adaptation, technology transfer, finance, forests, a shared vision, and indigenous peoples; work on the organization of the World People's Referendum on Climate Change; analyze and develop an action plan to advance the establishment of a Climate Justice Tribunal; and define strategies for action and mobilization to defend life from Climate Change and to defend the Rights of Mother Earth.
