26 February 2012: Member countries of the g7+ group, Pacific Island countries and Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) adopted a consensus statement at the close of the International Conference on Development for All, in Dili, Timor-Leste, calling for new goals to be adopted in the post-2015 development framework.
26 February 2013: The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) reported on the impacts of the La Niña phenomenon in 2010-2011, which caused a massive ocean heatwave in the Indian Ocean, more than 10,000 km off of Australia's western coast.
20 February 2013: The Climate Change Divsion of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has launched the February 2013 edition of its "Climate Change Matters" newsletter. The newsletter highlights SPREP's and its partners' climate change activities in the region.
25 February 2013: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has reported on recent developments within the framework of the Strengthening Resilience of Coastal and Small Island Communities towards Hydro‐meteorological Hazards and Climate Change Impacts (StResCom) project, funded by the Japan Funds-in-Trust (JFIT). StResCom project is a three-year project implemented in Indonesia, the Philippines and Timor-Leste.
21 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released the Third African Environment Outlook (AEO-3) Summary for Policy Makers, commissioned by the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN). The report focuses on the links between environment and health, and includes subsections on: air quality; biodiversity; chemicals and waste; climate change and variability; coastal and marine resources; freshwater and sanitation; and land.
16 February 2013: Representatives from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the International Council for Exploration of the Sea, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have presented their work to scientists, experts, educators and media at a one-day conference on “Stress, Sustainability and Development of Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) during Climate Change.”
15 February 2013: The UN Security Council held an informal, Arria formula meeting on the “security dimensions of climate change.” Tony deBrum, Minister in Assistance to the President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, gave a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York, US, after speaking as a panelist about the security issues faced by his country and other small island developing States (SIDS).
February 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has made available the report of the workshop on capacity building for pilot countries on the implementation of synergies among the Rio Conventions.
20 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a compendium of Global Environmental Goals (GEGs), aiming to inform governments and relevant stakeholders and promote cooperation in achieving their objectives in a more coherent and harmonized manner. The publication was announced in a UNEP Conference Room Paper (UNEP/GCSS.XII/CRP.2), dated 20 February 2013.
11 February 2013: The Adaptation Fund has released a call for public comments as seven projects and concept proposals are presently under review. The Adaptation Fund Board secretariat welcomes comments while the proposals are under technical review and screening by the Adaptation Fund.
