Event: Opening of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 70) [viewed]

The 70th Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 70) is scheduled to open at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 15 September 2015. On 25 September 2015, His Holiness Pope Francis will address the UNGA, and from 25-27 September the Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda will convene. The General Debate of the 70th Session of the UNGA will take place from 28 September - 6 October 2015.

FAO Launches Policy Guide and Learning Event on Advancing Agroforestry [viewed]

Event: Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety COP-MOP 7 [viewed]

The seventh meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Parties (MOP) to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety is scheduled for 29 September-3 October 2014. Among other issues, the meeting is expected to address: handling, transport, packaging and identification (HTPI) of living modified organisms (LMOs); risk assessment and risk management; and socio-economic considerations.

CGIAR Highlights Climate Benefits of Coffee-Banana Intercropping [viewed]

21 January 2013: A study by two centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), namely the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), demonstrates large income benefits of intercropping coffee and bananas in Uganda, as well as evidence that intercropping may help farmers cope with climate change.
