28 November 2012: A new report from the Global Land Project, with input from the World Agroforestry Center and other partners, documents the current state of forests in Africa and strategies for REDD+ implementation, identifying forest degradation as one of Africa's biggest contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
20 November 2012: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has published a report, titled “Climate Change, Impacts and Vulnerability in Europe 2012: An Indicator-Based Report,” which stresses that climate change already has observable impacts on environmental and social systems in Europe and that further impacts are anticipated in the future.
20 November 2012: The Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Victor Villalobos, circulated a "technical note" to Agriculture Ministers throughout the Americas regarding the place of agriculture in the climate change negotiations during the 18th meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 18) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
13 November: President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Vuk Jeremić, has called for States to reach consensus on the membership of the working group on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a speech to the UNGA Second Committee. He also stressed coordination and complementarity between the SDGs and the post-2015 development agenda.
15 November 2012: The fourth international conference on Drylands, Deserts and Desertification (DDD) gathered over 350 participants at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Sede Boqer Campus, Israel, to define ways to operationalize the outcomes from the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) for dylands and desertification.
14 November 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has invited nominations for the 2013 Land for Life Award.
15 November 2012: The International Conference on Food Security in Dry Lands aimed to develop recommendations in areas related to policy strategies and investments to boost agricultural production, enhance food security and increase resilience to price shocks. Conference participants focused on issues related to food security, water management and responsible investment.
12 November 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Project has released a TNA, titled “Technology Needs Assessment and Technology Action Plans for Climate Change Adaptation: Georgia.” Prepared by UNEP and the Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia, the TNA outlines technology needs in priority sectors in Georgia.
1 November 2012: During the Second Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (CGARD) a broad range of stakeholders discussed the importance of open access to agricultural research, best practices on engaging smallholder farmers and implementation of the GCARD six-point Road Map.
November 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a short film that documents the ways Ethiopian smallholder farmers recognize and use seed diversity in their local farming practices to build resilience into their fields.
