20 July 2012: The Cartagena Dialogue for Progressive Action (Cartagena Dialogue) met in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to discuss key questions ahead of the upcoming informal additional sessions of the Ad Hoc working groups (AWGs) to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 30 August to 5 September 2012, and the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to be held in Doha, Qatar, at the end of 2012.
27 July 2012: The 32nd meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 32) of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (Montreal Protocol) considered two proposals to amend the Montreal Protocol related to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs): the first by the Federated States of Micronesia; and the second by the US, Canada and Mexico. Parties were unable to reach consensus on establishing a contact group on the proposals.
20 July 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report (FCCC/ADP/2012/INF.1) of the in-session workshop on increasing the level of ambition, carried out in accordance with Durban Decision 1/CP.17 (AWG-LCA Outcome).
29 June 2012: The Presidents of the Southern Cone Common Market (MERCOSUR) Member States have issued a declaration addressing sustainable development, climate change, global mercury negotiations and mining. The leaders were meeting during a semi-annual summit, held on 29 June 2012, in Mendoza, Argentina. Immediately thereafter, a summit with the Associate States of Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru adopted two additional declarations.
13 July 2012: The 11th BASIC Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change concluded with the adoption of a joint statement in which the leaders reaffirm that the Durban Platform (ADP) process and outcome shall be under the Convention, in full accordance with all its principles and provisions, in particular the principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities.
10 July 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the meeting report of the first part of the 15th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention on (AWG-LCA 15), held in Bonn, Germany, from 15-25 May 2012.
6 July 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the meeting report of the 36th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 36), held in Bonn, Germany, from 14-25 May 2012.
6 July 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP), which was held in Bonn, Germany, from 17-25 May 2012.
This ministerial meeting will be held in preparation for the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC. It will convene in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 21-23 October 2012.
22 June 2012: The third and final meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), Pre-Conference Informal Consultations Facilitated by the Host Country, and the UNCSD convened back-to-back in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 13-22 June 2012. During their ten days in Rio, government delegations concluded negotiations on the Rio outcome document, titled “The Future We Want.”
