UNFCCC Parties Agree on Negotiating Text for 2015 Agreement [viewed]

UNCTAD Event Discusses Linkages among Trade, SDGs, Climate [viewed]

G20 Finance Ministers Express Support for FfD, Tackling Tax Avoidance [viewed]

g20-turkey10 February 2015: Group of 20 (G20) finance ministers and central bank governors released a Communiqué from their first meeting under Turkey's presidency. The Communiqué expresses their full support to the G20-Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Project (BEPS), which aims to modernize international tax rules and tackle cross-border tax avoidance, and to the achievement of a successful outcome of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3) “towards the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda.”

High-Level Event Explores Means of Implementation Priorities for FfD3, Post-2015 Processes [viewed]

69th Session of the UNGA10 February 2015: The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Sam Kutesa, convened a high-level thematic debate to discuss key elements of a renewed global partnership for sustainable development, as well as infrastructure development, and the role of parliaments, cities and local authorities in the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda. A President's Summary of the meeting, to be released by 18 February 2015, will serve as input for both the intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda and the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3).

Event: 38th Session of IFAD's Governing Council [viewed]

The 38th session of the Governing Council for the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will focus on the theme 'Rural Transformation: Key to Sustainable Development'. The session will discuss topics including indigenous peoples and sustainable food systems, overcoming challenges to rural transformation through the post-2015 sustainable development goals, innovations in financial inclusion, and empowering women to transform rural areas. It will also include a briefing by Turkey on the G20 Presidency. The session will feature high-level officials as keynote speakers such as John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, His Majesty Tupou VI, King of Tonga, and Pier Carlo Padoan, Minister of Economy and Finance, Italy.

ADP 2-8 Opens in Geneva [viewed]

UNFCCC8 February 2015: The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) has begun the eighth part of its second session (ADP 2-8) in Geneva, Switzerland, and will continue meeting until 13 February. The conference is the first of several meetings to be held in 2015 under the UNFCCC in preparation for the Paris Climate Change Conference in December 2015. The Paris Conference is mandated to adopt “a protocol, another legal instrument or an agreed outcome with legal force under the Convention applicable to all Parties” that is expected to be implemented in 2020.

EC Proposes Elements for Global Partnership [viewed]
