Mexico Launches COP 16 COP/MOP 6 Website [viewed]

24 June 2010: The Government of Mexico has launched the official host country website for the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 16) and the sixth Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 6), which will be held in Cancun, Mexico, from 29 November-10 December 2010.

EU Outlines Priorities for G20 Toronto Summit [viewed]

EU-ACP Review Contonou Agreement, Adopt Joint Declaration on Climate Change [viewed]

22 June 2010: During the 35th Session of the Joint Council of the EU-African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, held on 21-22 June 2010 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the EU and ACP countries signed the second five-year revision of the Cotonou Agreement. The EU and ACP countries also adopted joint declarations on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and climate change.

Event: Thirteenth Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA 13) [viewed]

Held under the auspices of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), this meeting will will focus on plant and aquatic genetic resources, the application and integration of biotechnologies in the conservation and utilization of genetic resources, as well as on climate change and genetic resources for food and agriculture. Furthermore, the Commission will consider policies and arrangements for access and benefit-sharing (ABS) for genetic resources for food and agriculture, including relevant aspects of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS, adopted at the tenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Other agenda items include: the updated Global Plan of Action for the Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture; review of cooperation with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) and the CBD; review of the information base for aquatic genetic resources and key issues for the State of the World's Aquatic Genetic Resources; and review of progress in other areas of the CGRFA's Multi-Year Programme of Work (MYPOW), including Forest genetic resources and animal genetic resources and overall MYPOW implementation and review.

Meeting of LDCs and AOSIS Climate Negotiators to be Convened [viewed]

15 June 2010: The EU has provided US$1.1 million to the Solomon Islands Government to host an international meeting of 200 climate change negotiators from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) to discuss key climate change issues ahead of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, scheduled to take place in Cancun, Mexico, at the end of 2010.
