Event: Seventh African Development Forum on Climate Change and Development [viewed]

The Seventh African Development Forum (ADF VII) on Climate Change and Development is being convened by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). The overall objective of the Forum is to raise awareness and mobilize effective commitment and actions on the part of all stakeholders and partners at all levels to effectively mainstream climate change concerns into development policies, strategies, programmes and practices in Africa. The Forum also aims to strengthen Africa's participation in international climate change negotiations with a view to ensuring adequate reflection of the continent's concerns and priorities in a post-2012 international climate change regime.

Climate Talks Open in Bonn [viewed]

31 May 2010: The Bonn Climate Change Talks began on 31 May 2010, and are scheduled to conclude on 11 June. The meeting brings together representatives from 182 countries and will include the 32nd sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies of the UNFCCC, the tenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 10) and the 12th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 12).

Oslo Meeting Reaches Agreement on Financing and Quick-Start Measures for REDD [viewed]

27 May 2010: Representatives of 50 countries met in Oslo, Norway, on 27 May 2010, to conclude an agreement on financing and a framework to rapidly operationalize measures for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD). Countries also pledged almost US$4 billion to quick-start implementation between 2010-2012.
