UNFCCC Releases SBSTA Documents for Bonn Session [viewed]

UNFCCC4 June 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a series of documents that will be discussed by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific and technical Advice (SBSTA) at its 38th session, taking place in Bonn, Germany. The documents relate to methodological issues related to the Kyoto Protocol, the new market-based mechanism, emissions from international transport, the UNFCCC reporting guidelines, high-carbon reservoirs, and a framework for various approaches.

UNEP Risø Centre Outlines Elements of a New Climate Agreement by 2015 [viewed]

UNEP RISO Centre3 June 2013: The UNEP Risø Centre, in collaboration with UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), has released 'Perspectives 2013,' a publication that features articles on the "Elements of a New Climate Agreement by 2015." The publication considers key issues to address with a view to reach a climate change agreement by 2015 to come into effect by 2020, as agreed at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC.

UNFCCC Technical Papers Address Selection of Host Institutions, Mitigation Ambition [viewed]

UNFCCC28 May 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published two technical papers to be considered during the session to be held in Bonn, Germany, from 3-14 June 2013. One addresses steps and time frames to conduct an open and competitive bidding process for selecting host institutions (FCCC/TP/2013/1) and the other is a compilation of information on mitigation benefits of actions, initiatives and options to enhance mitigation ambition (FCCC/TP/2013/4).

UNFCCC Releases Co-Chairs Notes on ADP April Session [viewed]

UNFCCC21 May 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published various summaries and the ADP Co-chairs' reflections on the first part of the second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). UNFCCC6 May 2013: The Eastern European Group has designated Marcin Korolec, Minister of Environment, Poland, as the President-Designate for the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 9th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 9), which will be held from 11-22 November 2013, in Warsaw, Poland.

Event: Inaugural Meeting of High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development [viewed]

The inaugural meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will take place on 24 September 2013. This will be the first formal meeting of the HLPF since a decision was taken to establish the forum at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20) in June 2012. The HLPF aims to follow up on the implementation of sustainable development, and to build on the strengths, experiences, resources and inclusive participation modalities of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), and to replace the Commission.
