GEF Council Consultation with CSOs Discusses CSO Engagement, Knowledge Management [viewed]

iisdrs_gef1 June 2015: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council consultation meeting with civil society organizations (CSOs) gathered approximately 100 participants to focus on three topics: a dialogue with the GEF CEO; strengthening CSO engagement in the GEF; and knowledge management in the GEF. Just after the close of the consultation, the first meeting of the new Working Group on Implementation of the GEF Public Involvement Policy (PIP) convened, involving members of the GEF CSO Network, the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Council. The day-long CSO Consultation took place immediately before the 48th meeting of the GEF Council, which will convene at the same venue from 2-4 June 2015.

Transport Ministers Call for Global Policies to Mainstream Low-Carbon Transport [viewed]

itf_201528 May 2015: The Council of Ministers of Transport at the International Transport Forum (ITF) 2015 Annual Summit issued a 'Declaration from Ministers on Transport, Trade and Tourism' on the value of pursuing low-carbon transport towards the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In their Declaration, ministers “recognize that the new international climate agreement, which is to be forged and agreed by COP 21, should encourage mainstreaming of low-carbon transport in global policies on climate change and sustainable development.”

UNFF11 Concludes with Ministerial Declaration, Decisions on IAF [viewed]

iisdrs_unff1115 May 2015: The 11th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF11) was held at UN headquarters in New York from 4-15 May 2015, with the High-Level Segment taking place from 13-14 May 2015. Delegates convened to discuss, inter alia, progress, challenges and the way forward for the international arrangement on forests, including reviewing the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests (IAF), the progress towards the achievement of the global objectives on forests and the contribution of forests and the IAF to the internationally agreed development goals.

India, China Express Support for Successful Paris Climate Conference [viewed]
