MEF Discusses Expectations for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference [viewed]

Montreal Protocol Parties Discuss HFC Issues [viewed]

28 June 2013: At the 33rd meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 33) of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, delegates discussed the organization of the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) and initiated formal discussions on the financial, legal and technical issues associated with managing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

CIFOR, Forest Europe Summarize Progress on REDD+ in Bonn [viewed]

CIFORJune 26 2013: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and Forest Europe have released summaries of the forest and REDD+ related outcomes of the Bonn climate change talks, which convened from 3-14 June 2013. Both reports highlight positive progress on national forest monitoring and the verification of emission reductions.

Event: 46th GEF Council Meeting and GEF Assembly [viewed]

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly will be held back-to-back with the 46th GEF Council meeting in Mexico. A report on the host city, Cancún, was considered at the 45th Council meeting in November 2013. The CSO Consultation, GEF Council and LDCF/SCCF Council Meetings will convene from 25-27 May, with the Council meeting beginning on 25 May and overlapping for half a day, on 27 May, with the CSO Consultation. The Assembly will convene from 28-30 May. All 183 member nations, including South Sudan – the GEF's newest member – will gather for the Assembly. The GEF Council meets twice a year, while the Assembly meets every four years to take major decisions, including endorsement of the next four-year GEF replenishment package.

44th GEF Council Meeting Approves US$369.82 Million Work Program [viewed]

Bonn Talks Make Progress on Technical Issues but Disagree on Work on Implementation [viewed]

UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres and SBI Chair Thomasz Chruszczow, Poland, at the closing plenary of SBI 3817 June 2013: The UN Climate Change Conference, which took place in Bonn, Germany, centered on technical issues under the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), as well as on the 2015 agreement and pre-2020 mitigation under the resumed session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). Work on implementation was stalled due to lack of agreement on the agenda of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI).
