9 December 2011: In preparation for the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 11), the CBD Secretariat has circulated the provisional agenda and annotated agenda for the meeting, as approved by the COP Bureau.
The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the UNFCCC is expected to take place in November-December 2016, at a venue to be determined.
The 42nd sessions of the subsidiary bodies to the UNFCCC are expected to take place in May 2016.
The 40th sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies to the UNFCCC are expected to take place in June 2015.
11 December 2011: The UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa, concluded with the adoption of a set of decisions covering a wide range of topics, notably the establishment of a second commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol, a decision on long-term cooperative action under the Convention, the launch of a new process towards an agreed outcome with legal force applicable to all parties to the Convention, and the operationalization of the Green Climate Fund.
The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC is expected to take place in December 2015 at a venue to be determined.
The 20th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC is expected to take place in December 2014 at a venue to be determined.
The 38th sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies to the UNFCCC are expected to take place in June 2014.
11 December 2011: After extended negotiations over the weekend, the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa, concluded with the adoption of the "Durban Platform," a set of decisions that lay the ground for adopting a legal agreement on climate change as soon as possible, and no later than 2015.
7 December 2011: In his speech at the High-Level Ministerial Dinner of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged governments to begin steps toward a binding comprehensive global agreement, while accelerating national actions on the ground.
