11 November 2010: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), together with the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, have launched the Nuclear Energy Management School to train a new generation of nuclear energy leaders.
October 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have released a working paper titled “Money Matters: Mitigating Risk to Spark Private Investments in Energy Efficiency.”
Organized by the UN annually since 2008, the Global South-South Development Expo provides a forum to enable developing countries and their development partners, including donor agencies, organizations of the UN system, and private-sector and civil society organizations, to showcase their evidence-based South-South development solutions. Solution forums include social protection and decent work, food security, climate change and environment, HIV/AIDS, global health, and education. This third GSSD Expo will focus on enhancing the strategic capacity of developing countries in research and technology development, and will develop inter-regional partnerships in each of its core topic areas.
11 November 2010: Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), delivered a statement at the Latin America and the Caribbean-EU Forum on Fiscal Policy and an Environmentally Sustainable Economy in the Context of Climate Change, which took place in Berlin, Germany, from 10-11 November 2010.
8 November 2010: OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría spoke on policies for promoting green growth at the Global Green Growth Conference 2010, which took place from 7-8 November 2010, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
9 November 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released the 2010 edition of its flagship publication, the World Energy Outlook, which projects global energy production and consumption out to 2035 based on three scenarios: current policies; policies promised since the agreement of the Copenhagen Accord; and the IEA's best case, 450ppm scenario.
8 November 2010: The second annual meeting of chief technology officers (CTOs) was held in Paris, France, on 29 October 2010, to discuss the telecommunication standardization landscape.
8 November 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a document containing the initial findings of its upcoming Smart Grids Technology Roadmap.
This roundtable, organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will explore ways in which “developing Asian countries rebalance their economies towards domestic and regional demand.” Participants will consider emerging questions surrounding innovation, such as: innovation for balanced and sustainable growth; making innovation work for development; realizing local benefits of global value chains; and international cooperation for innovation, including technology transfer.
4 November 2010: The fifth International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Symposium on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), which took place from 2-3 November 2010, in Cairo, Egypt, focused on the issue of ICTs, the environment and climate change in Africa, and the needs of developing countries.
