3 December 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) International Environmental Technology Centre has released a report titled "Waste and Climate Change: Global Trends and Strategy Framework."
3 December 2010: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released the document “Financing Climate Change Action and Boosting Technology Change” as part of a series summarizing the OECD's climate-change related work, and making recommendations to UNFCCC COP 16.
November 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released an information paper titled “Reviewing Existing and Proposed Emissions Trading Systems.”
As world leaders gather in Cancun for the COP16 climate meeting, the subject of energy – its use, production, distribution and sustainability – should be high on their agenda. The reality is that we cannot address many of the challenges of the 21st Century such as energy security, poverty alleviation, and climate change with the energy systems that we have today.
This meeting is convened by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and is intended to provide a forum for tripartite delegations to express their opinions on the themes addressed by the Report prepared by the Director-General of the ILO for this meeting. The Meeting will host a series of four Dialogues about issues related to the lessons of the crisis for the World of Work, decent work challenges, and innovative experiences, including green jobs.
29 November 2010: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released a report titled "Green and growth go together: The business case for a low-carbon economy."
The UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is partnering with Global Energy Basel to convene this event. The event focuses on the challenge of financing investment in low-carbon, resilient infrastructure necessary to both mitigate and adapt to climate change. It will feature investment forums, high-level roundtable discussions and specialized panels related to challenges and opportunities for sustainable infrastructure investment.
29 November 2010: The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has published a report titled "International Trade After the Economic Crisis: Challenges and New Opportunities," which analyzes new business opportunities in the environmental sector.
The workshop will be held as part of the International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies and development (ICTD2010), hosted by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Its objective is to foster discussion about key ICT- and-climate-change topics, including the role of current and emerging digital technologies in adaptation, mitigation, disaster management and strategy formulation in developing countries.
