Event: Recharging the European Electric Vehicle Market: Meeting Infrastructure and Standardisation Challenges [viewed]
This symposium will seek to move the current electric vehicle debate forward and guide participants through the challenges that lie ahead in the development of a standardized European electric vehicle market, such as Europe-wide charging and electricity infrastructure standardization. The symposium will also consider the implications for city planners of an expanded market-share for electric vehicles, as well as ongoing research and development advances, EU subsidies and improvements to supply from the power grid.
8 July 2011: The International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) Sixth Symposium on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), the Environment and Climate Change, focused on the issue of ICTs, the environment and climate change in Africa and the needs of developing countries, and concluded with a Call to Action for global leaders to recognize the role of ICTs in tackling climate change and to enhance their ability to do so.
8 July 2011: The International Energy Agency's Implementing Agreement on Renewable Energy Technology Deployment (IEA-RETD) has issued a call for proposals to study supply chain issues in the wind energy and solar photovoltaic sectors.

June 2011: The official website in support of the 2012 "International Year for Sustainable Energy for All," with information on the Year itself, recent and future events, how to get involved, other resources, and partners, has been launched.
5 July 2011: The Government of the Cook Islands has announced the launch of the Renewable Energy Chart – Te Atamoa O Te Uira Natura, which outlines how to achieve the target to produce 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2015 and 100% by 2020. 
June 2011: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a briefing note titled “Taxation, Innovation and the Environment,” which illustrates how carbon and other pollution taxes, as well as similar instruments, positively affect innovation.
5 July 2011: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released an updated version of its “Technology Roadmaps - Electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (EV/PHEV)” report, which indicates that forecasted manufacturing of electric and hybrid vehicles is behind national targets.
30 June 2011: The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) has announced €3 million in funding for 21 clean energy projects in 17 countries, focusing on improving access to modern energy services and promoting low carbon energy development in developing countries.
June 2011: UN-Energy, together with the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (formerly the e8 network) of leading global electricity companies, met at the "Global Summit to Strengthen Public-Private Partnerships to Accelerate Global Electricity Technology Deployment" to discuss public-private partnership best practices to advance sustainable energy development.
