Event: Global Green Growth Forum in Latin America and the Caribbean [viewed]

At the invitation of Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos, Prime Minister of Denmark Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) President Luis Alberto Moreno, leaders from government, business, finance, civil society and international organizations will convene at the first regional dialogue in Latin America of the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF LAC). The event, on the topic "Rethinking our energy future: Climate change and renewable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean," seeks to highlight the substantial renewable energy endowment available in the region and identify collaboration opportunities and concrete actions to transform Latin America's energy market. Participants are expected to include: Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC; Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, UNFCCC; Adnan Amin, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA; Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, Minister of Energy, Mexico; René Castro, Minister of Environment and Energy, Costa Rica; and heads of large electricity utilities, regulatory agencies, renewable energy institutions, and the private sector.

UNEP, REN21 Launch Reference Reports on Renewable Energy Investments [viewed]

UNIDO Technology Summit Discusses Leapfrogging High-GWP Refrigerants [viewed]

IEA Outlines Strategy to Cut 2020 Energy-Related Emissions by 8% [viewed]

IEA10 June 2013: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released a World Energy Outlook Special Report, titled 'Redrawing the Energy-Climate Map,' which presents a strategy to reduce energy-related carbon emissions in 2020 at no net economic cost to levels needed to limit the average global temperature increase to two degrees Celsius.

US, China to Collaborate on HFCs Phase Down [viewed]

AfDB31 May 2013: The 48th Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB) concluded with the adoption of the Bank's Ten Year Strategy 2013-2022 and 2012 Annual Report, as well as a resolution to return the Bank's headquarters to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The Latin American Forum on Climate Change Adaptation is organized by the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of the Business Administration School of Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Brazil. Organized in cooperation with the UNFCCC Secretariat, the meeting will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on 26 June 2013 and will focus on the engagement of the private sector in adapting to climate change.
