Event: Future of Cities - ICLEI's 20th Anniversary Congress [viewed]

This Congress is organized by ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability. Partners include the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR). The four congress themes are: eco-efficiency (more with less); resilience (stability through flexibility); Green Economy (prosperity through change); and happiness (well-being as wealth).

This Conference on Women's Safety will bring together representatives from women's and community organizations, municipal and national governments, UN agencies, grassroots women, researchers, experts, and academics to work together and build upon the global movement towards the creation of safer and more gender-inclusive cities and communities. The UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), the Huairou Commission, the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and Red Mujer y Habitat de America Latina are supporting partners for this conference.

Event: Arab States regional launch of the 'Making Cities Resilient: My city is getting ready' campaign [viewed]

World Bank, GEF Support Eco-City Project in China [viewed]

22 July 2010: The World Bank has approved a US$6.16 Global Environment Facility (GEF) grant to support the Sino-Singapore Eco-City Project (SSTECP) in Tianjin, China, an area of 34.2 square kilometers that is designed to become a model of energy and resource efficiency while maintaining economic viability and social harmony.
