8 December 2009: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report titled "Cities, Towns and Renewable Energy: Yes In My Front Yard," which aims to illustrate to local level stakeholders the benefits and opportunities renewables can offer local businesses and citizens, and to assist national governments to better understand the role municipalities can play in national renewables programmes.
7 December 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) have announced support towards greening the World Cup with a one million dollar funding package to ensure that the event has a long-term sustainable impact on the country and the region.

4 December 2009: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has released two publications on migration, climate change and the environment.
November 2009: The UN University (UNU) Institute for Environment and Human Security has released a brief titled "The Way Forward: Researching the Environment and Migration Nexus," whichfocuses on the links and implications of climate change and environmental degradation for migration and policy.
24 November 2009: UN-HABITAT Executive Director Anna Tibaijuka, Enrique Peñalosa, the former mayor of Bogotá, Colombia, and Sören Hermansen, Danish Hero of the Environment, were given the Göteborg Award for Sustainable Development during a ceremony that stressed the urban dimension of the climate change and environment debate.
23 November 2009: The International Forum on Energy Efficiency in Housing, under the aegis of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), is taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 23-25 November 2009, to consider a draft action plan for improving buildings' energy efficiency performance in the UNECE region.
