Event: Second Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas [viewed]
This meeting, organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) and and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), will focus on: the acceptance and application of disaster risk reduction (DRR) in climate change adaptation; measurable increases in investments for DRR; cities, schools and hospitals resilient to disasters; a mid-term review of the Hyogo Framework for Action; and the regional message to be conveyed during the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction to be held 8-13 May 2011, in Geneva, Switzerland.
February 2011: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) have released a preview of guidelines titled “Are We Building Competitive and Liveable Cities?” 
7 February 2011: The European Parliament, the European Commission and the UN-Human Settlements Programe (UN-HABITAT), with the support of the Hungarian Presidency of the EU, hosted the high-level Consolidated Urban Dialogue Meeting with the EU Partners at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, on 26 January 2011.
2 February 2011: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) in India and the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies jointly organized the 13th Mahbub ul Haq Memorial Inter-School debate, which focused on the theme "The rich are responsible for climate change, but the poor suffer." 
4 February 2011: The GEF approved a US$2.85 million project to address transport challenges of three major cities in East Africa, in Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Kampala.
7 February 2011: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a project titled "ADB Policy Options to Support Climate-induced Migration," which aims to increase awareness of, and enhance regional preparedness for, migration driven by changing weather patterns.
January 2011: The International Labour Organization (ILO) has released Issue 70 of its magazine "World of Work," which is subtitled "Promoting a Recovery: Focused on Jobs," and features articles on green jobs in the construction sector.
1 February 2011: During an official three-day visit to Kenya and Somalia, UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos noted that Kenya's humanitarian challenges, caused by drought and rapid urbanization, can be addressed by sustainable recovery of livelihoods and restoring local coping mechanisms to deal with climate change-induced disasters.
31 January 2011: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced a book project for 2011 on migration, environment and climate change.
