FCPF, GEF Organize Brazil-Africa Event on REDD+ and Community Forestry [viewed]

11 February 2011: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), with the help of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), the Office National des Forêts International (ONFI) and a grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), organized a 10-day South-South exchange on community forestry and REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, including conservation, sustainable management of forests, and enhancement of carbon stocks).

Event: From Local to Rio: Linking Women's Low-Carbon Initiatives with Sustainable Development Policy [viewed]

This side event at the 55th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, is being organized by the Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), and the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA). The event aims to highlight key issues of gender and technology and build support from the women's community for work at the next negotiating sessions of the UNFCCC, Rio 2012 and beyond. This event will draw attention to the roles of women as inventors, managers and distributors of low-emission technologies in the context of promoting sustainable development and effective climate change responses. Panelists will present successful projects on the ground and connect to women's leadership in a green economy, and highlight UN Women's goals in the context of Rio 2012. Panelists include: H.
