Event: Final Preparatory Meeting in Support of the Economic and Social Assessments of the Impact of Climate Change in the Caribbean [viewed]

The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will convene a final working group session of consultants and representatives of ECLAC, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) before draft reports of the economic and social impacts on climate change on the Caribbean's agriculture, coastal and marine, energy, health, tourism and water sectors are prepared.

SPREP Hosts Climate Resilience Project Workshop in Cook Islands [viewed]

Adaptation Fund6 July 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) hosted an Inception Workshop for a US$5 million dollar Climate Change Adaptation Programme, which will be implemented from 2012-2017, with the guidance of the Pa Enua or outer island communities in the Cook Islands, targeting sectors such as the water, health, agriculture and marine resources.

Draft UNDP/UNFPA Programme for PICTs Addresses Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change [viewed]

13 June 2012: The Executive Board of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) released a draft sub-regional programme document for the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) for 2013 to 2017. The programme includes support for accelerated action toward the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including on climate change, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and environmental management activities.

FAO's World Fisheries and Aquaculture Report Calls for Adopting Ecosystem Approach [viewed]

FAO9 July 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released the 2012 edition of its flagship publication, "The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture." The report underscores fisheries' and aquaculture's contribution to global food security and economic growth, but warns that they are threatened by poor governance, weak fisheries management regimes, conflicts over the use of natural resources, and the persistent use of poor fishery and aquaculture practices.

IOC Discusses Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy [viewed]
