UNSG Receives CSO Letter on HLP Report [viewed]

HLP On22 July 2013: Sixty-two Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) submitted a letter to UN Secretary-General (UNSG) Ban Ki-moon to provide feedback on the report of the UN High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP) and make general recommendations on the post-2015 process. The letter is organized around the principles of planetary boundaries, structural transformation, human rights, inequalities, universality, accountability and participation.

GWP Report Examines Water and Food Security in Asia [viewed]

Green Climate Fund Selects First Executive Director [viewed]

Green Climate Fund (GCF)30 June 2013: During a recent meeting of the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which took place from 25-28 June 2013, in Songdo, Republic of Korea, the Board selected by consensus Hela Cheikhrouhou (Tunisia) as its first Executive Director, to lead the independent Secretariat of the Fund. Other aspects for the operationalization of the Fund were also considered.

Event: 21st Meeting of the Adaptation Fund Board [viewed]

The Board of the Adaptation Fund will meet from 3-4 July 2013, in Bonn, Germany. Issues to be considered include the report of the 12th meeting of the Project and Programme Review Committee; the report of the 12th meeting of the Ethics and Finance Committee; objectives and further steps of the Fund; environmental and social safeguards; and financial issues. The Adaptation Fund has been established by the parties to the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to finance concrete adaptation projects and programmes in developing countries that are parties to the Kyoto Protocol and are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

Ozone Secretariat Releases Paper that Proposes Including Ozone in SDGs [viewed]

25 Montreal Protocol21 June 2013: The Ozone Secretariat has released an information document, titled 'Embedding ozone protection in the sustainable development agenda,' that reviews historical and current sustainable development processes, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), introduces initiatives under way to articulate a new development agenda, including on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and discusses the role of ozone in future SDGs.
