15 April 2013: Approximately 60 researchers and officials from the five Central Asian States and Afghanistan, as well as representatives from international organizations and the donor community, gathered at a UN-backed seminar to discuss the impact of glacier melting on the water resources of Central Asia and review practical steps in adaptation strategies at national and regional levels.
15 April 2013: The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) and Conservation International (CI) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on the sidelines of the 46th meeting of the Ramsar Standing Committee to provide a framework for future cooperation.
15 April 2013: The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity Business Coalition (TEEB for Business) has released a report on environmental externalities of businesses, titled "Natural Capital at Risk – The Top 100 Externalities of Business.” The report concludes that the top 100 environmental externalities cost the world economy approximately US$7.3 trillion annually, around 13% of global economic output.

April 2013: Underscoring the challenges facing dryland countries, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) has released a report titled "Strategies for Combating Climate Change in Drylands Agriculture," which highlights proposed solutions to the agriculture problems facing dryland countries.
5 April 2013: The Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF), operated by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has granted US$18.6 million, to be channeled through the African Development Bank (AfDB), for the development of climate-resilient water sectors in Sierra Leone, Uganda and Mauritania.
2 April 2013: The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced the launch of the International Blue Carbon Initiative's new website.
27 March 2013: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has partnered with the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) to support up to ten PhD fellowships per year focused on weather, climate and water-related hazards. The fellowships aim to support students from least-developed and developing countries particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
March 2013: The Global Water Partnership (GWP) March edition of "News Flow" highlights the launch by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and GWP of a joint Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) to improve monitoring and prevention of droughts.
