18 March 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), in collaboration with the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD), launched a photo competition on the theme "Nurture forests for the future - REDD+ for Food Security."
February 2013: In preparation for the third Mediterranean Forest Week (III MFW), the Strategic Framework on Mediterranean Forests (SFMF) has been released.
14 March 2013: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) has responded to the withdrawal of the National Coordinating Body of Indigenous Peoples in Panama (COONAPIP) from the National REDD+ Programme.
The second meeting of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is exepected to take place in late 2013.
March 2013: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has released a report titled “An economic analysis of ecosystem-based adaptation and engineering options for climate change adaptation in Lami Town, Fiji.” Building on a vulnerability and adaptation assessment of Lami Town, the report presents a cost-benefit analysis of four adaptation scenarios.
The symposium, convened by the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD), will examine lessons learned from pilot activities linking REDD+ to sustainable development and the green economy. The objective of the symposium is to build a stronger business case for REDD+.
11 March 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the centralized review of the 2012 annual submission of Liechtenstein (FCCC/ARR/2012/LIE), which states that total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions increased by 1.1% between 1990 and 2010.
8 March 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the centralized review of the 2012 annual submission of Lithuania (FCCC/ARR/2012/LTU), which found that Lithuania's total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions increased by 56.9% between 1990 and 2010.
March 2013: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has opened a new office in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to support the Building Biocarbon and Rural Development in West Africa Project (BIODEV).
8 March 2013: The Program on Forests (PROFOR) has released a World Bank report, titled "Deforestation Trends in the Congo Basin," which examines the link between economic development and deforestation in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Republic of Congo.
