CIFOR Identifies Obstacles to Carbon Accounting for Charcoal [viewed]

CIFOR12 January 2015: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) released a report examining data needs for estimating the contribution of charcoal production and consumption to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The study focuses on Zambia but notes that charcoal is used for cooking by millions of people across Africa.

GEF CEO Stresses India's Role in 2015 Climate Agreement [viewed]

GEF19 December 2014: In an editorial written for the Hindu Business Line, Naoko Ishii, CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), notes that India, as the world's third largest economy in purchasing power parity, will play a critical role in combating climate change. She writes that the most important building block of the 2015 Paris climate agreement will be the announcement of each country's intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to reduce emissions, and that India's INDC will be closely scrutinized.

Event: Global Landscapes Forum 2015 [viewed]

The third annual Global Landscapes Forum will take place on 6 December 2015, in Paris, France, conciding with the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). A successor to past Forest Days and Agriculture and Rural Development Days, the Forum focuses on land use as a key sector for achieving global climate and sustainability goals, and brings together stakeholders from different land-use sectors. In previous years, Global Landscapes Forum coordinating partners have included the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers (CGIAR) Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

OECD, EIB, CPI Discuss Improving Climate Finance Tracking in 2015 [viewed]
