Titled “Challenges for a Business Case for High-Biodiversity REDD Projects and Schemes,” the report is dedicated to the exploration of market payment options for “high-biodiversity REDD” efforts, or those REDD measures that contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

(CDM) Working Group meetings have been released. The first is the

report from the 23rd meeting of the CDM Afforestation and Reforestation

(A/R) Working Group, which took place from 25-27 February 2009. The

second report is that of the 19th meeting of the CDM Small Scale (SSC)

Working Group, which took place from 24-27 February 2009.

UNFCCC Secretatriat Releases Review of Austria's National GHG Inventory [viewed]

March 2009: The UNFCCC has released the report of the individual review of the GHG inventory of Austria submitted in 2007 and 2008 (FCCC/ARR/2008/AUT). The expert review team (ERT) finds that Austria has submitted a complete set of common reporting format tables for 1990-2006 and a national inventory report. The submission is complete in terms of geographical coverage, years and sectors, as well as in terms of categories and gases. The inventory is generally in line with Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, with the IPCC good practice guidance, with the IPCC good practice guidance for Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF), and is generally complete and of a high quality.

27 February 2009: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released a study titled “Wood from Planted Forests.” The study underscores the critical role that planted forests play in securing future wood supply and in providing other ecosystem services. The report underscores that the importance of planted forests will increase in the future, given their ability to sequester carbon and contribute other services, such as soil and water conservation.
